竹，是華夏文明獨有的精神符號，位列“四君子（松、竹、梅、蘭）”，承載虛心、堅貞、清雅、隱逸的人格理想。唐詩為詠竹文學的鼎盛高峰，《全唐詩》存千余涉竹詩作，帝王、詩圣、詩佛、才子皆以竹寄情，將自然草木升華為文人精神載體：太宗賦竹彰貞潔，杜甫詠竹惜風骨，王維借竹寫禪隱，白居易品竹論德藝，諸家筆底青筠，藏盡唐人處世心境與審美追求。
本次甄選十六首唐代詠竹經(jīng)典，覆蓋初盛中晚四代名家，兼顧詠竹、觀竹、種竹、畫竹、竹境寄懷多元題材。遵循 “信達雅”翻譯準則原創(chuàng)英譯，精準還原字詞本義、貼合原詩格律氣韻、傳遞竹文化深層意象，打破語言壁壘，讓全球讀者讀懂藏于翠竹間的東方詩意與千年君子文化。

Preface:
XiaoYue, Director of Musical Rituals, excels at painting bamboo, unmatched in allthe realm. He guards his works closely; many beg for a single stalk or twig allyear yet gain none. Knowing I cherish fine art, he painted fifteen bamboostalks and sent them to me as a gift. I value his kindness and admire hiscraft, lacking fitting reward, I compose this ballad for him, one hundredsixty-six words in full.
Poem:
Ofall green plants, bamboo’s hardest to portray;
Nopainter past or present captures its sway.
OnlyXiao’s brush renders its true living grace,
Unrivaledsince the birth of painting’s artful space.
Othersdraw thick, bloated stalks, heavy and slow;
Histhin stems rise, each joint upright to grow.
Otherspaint limp, lifeless fronds that droop and fade;
Hisbranches breathe, each leaf stirs in the shade.

翻譯無止境，筆者力求做到：
1、信（忠實原文）：嚴格還原詩歌物象、典故、情感，“籜、筠粉、幽篁、湘妃、天竺寺”等文化專有名詞兼顧字面釋義與意象簡化，不增刪原詩主旨；長詩《畫竹歌》完整保留序言與全詩敘事邏輯。
2、達（流暢通順）：采用英語傳統(tǒng)格律詩句式，調(diào)整語序適配英文閱讀習慣，規(guī)避中式直譯生硬感，動詞、形容詞貼合景物動態(tài)，復刻竹風、竹影、竹露的畫面流動感。
3、雅（韻律審美）：全篇采用隔行尾韻，五言、七言詩對應簡潔四行/八行英詩節(jié)奏，長短句匹配原詩舒緩或激昂氣韻；規(guī)避現(xiàn)代口語詞匯，選用古典書面語，貼合唐詩典雅文風。
4、文化適配：“君子、貞節(jié)、鳳凰、知音” 等中式精神符號用具象英文意象轉(zhuǎn)化，兼顧海外讀者理解門檻，保留東方竹文化內(nèi)核不流失。
因水平有限，譯作存在不足，敬請專家、學者和讀者批評指正。筆者愿為中華文化出海減少“文化折扣”貢獻綿薄之力。
