北京時間7月21日，據意大利記者斯基拉消息，比利時足協已與范博梅爾展開談判，提供兩年的合同。
該記者表示：“比利時足協已與范博梅爾開啟談判，邀請其出任比利時國家隊主教練一職，比利時足協向他提供一份至2028年歐洲杯到期的執教合同。”
現年49歲的范博梅爾于2013年退役，退役后曾擔任過沙特、澳大利亞國家隊助教，另外他還曾執教過埃因霍溫、沃爾夫斯堡、安特衛普。
