北京時間7月26日，據ClutchPoints記者Brett Siegel報道，在勒布朗-詹姆斯今夏決定下家期間，熱火球星揚尼斯-阿德托昆博并未像其他球星一樣積極參與招募。
Siegel稱，字母哥沒有特別主動地嘗試說服詹姆斯加盟邁阿密。與熱火相比，76人對詹姆斯展開了全力招募，球隊核心泰瑞斯-馬克西深度參與其中，勇士前鋒德雷蒙德-格林也曾積極游說詹姆斯前往金州。
詹姆斯最終選擇加盟76人，與球隊簽下一份兩年800萬美元的合同。
