Responding to the incident on Monday evening, a Lay's representative said the company had taken the matter seriously and had already contacted the consumer to arrange for the product to be returned for internal testing.
In an update posted later that evening, the consumer said Lay's customer service had reached out and apologized. Both sides agreed that, after keeping half of the regular chips and half of the blue chip, the consumer would send the suspected problematic chip back to the company for further examination.
